Save Your Vision Month

Do you take your eyes for granted? Organized by the American Optometric Association, Save Your Vision Month is held every March to increase the awareness of good eye care.

Our eyes form a large part of our everyday lives. From reading the paper, to staring at a computer screen, to reading a book to your child, or cooking from a recipe, our eyes are visually stimulated during our waking hours.

Do you practice good eye care? When was the last time you had an eye exam? Unfortunately, most people don’t visit an eye doctor unless something is wrong. Some benefits of regular eye exams include taking corrective measures if your eyesight is faulty, checking for glaucoma, and even diabetes is often diagnosed with an eye exam.

Some of the problems you face if you work at a computer all day include eye strain, dry eyes, and blurry vision. Be good to your eyes and take frequent breaks, close your eyes for a few seconds, and use artificial tears. Also, eating plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, and getting a good night’s sleep, are other ways to maintain the health of your eyes.
