Kindness Rocks

A year or so ago I read an article where a family traveled to a small country church cemetery and left colorful rocks at the graves of their ancestors. The sweet act of kindness stuck with me.

My challenge to you is to find a few rocks, paint them in cheerful colors, and perhaps even write a kind saying on top.

Give a kindness rock to a teacher, neighbor, grandparent, co-worker, friend, or other family member and brighten their day.  If you want to share the kindness even more, give each person two rocks and have them spread the kindness to a person of their choice.

Supplies:

  • Rocks
  • Craft paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Black marker

Directions:

  1. Spread newspaper or waxed paper on a smooth surface.
  2. Paint each rock a colorful color. Let dry.
  3. Paint a flower, bee, heart, ladybug, or a design of your choice on each rock. Let dry.
  4. Outline the design with a black marker.
  5. Optionally, write a saying on the rock such as “be happy,” “smile,” or “good vibes.”

Go out and rock the kindness!
