10 Brilliant Tips

Don’t you love finding new ways to do something? I do. Do you ever think to yourself “why didn’t I think of that?” I do.

Today I’m giving you ten tips I’ve discovered over the past year.

  1. No more cord chaos. Are the cords to your kitchen appliances a tangled mess? Take a small square of sticky back Velcro and attach one side to the end of the cord. Wrap the cord around your appliance and stick the other side of Velcro to the appliance.
  2. Locate a stud. You’ve finally decided to hang a heavy picture and need to locate the stud, but you have no stud finder. Take an electric shaver and drag the butt over the wall.  The sound changes slightly when it contacts a stud.
  3. De-grime a keyboard. Next time you need to clean your keyboard, dip the tip of a clean foam eye-shadow applicator and sweep between the keys. Not only will you clean your keyboard but you are also disinfecting it as well.
  4. Key to tender soft cookies. Next time you roll out cookie dough, use confectioners’ sugar instead of flour. Flour tends to toughen the cookies, but powdered sugar adds a touch of sweetness.
  5. Avoid glass confusion. Next time you have a gathering at your house, distinguish each glass with window clings from the dollar store. No more confusion which glass is yours.
  6. No cooling rack? You’ve used all your trivets or pot holders to set hot food dishes on, but have one more dish to set out. Set out two knives and place the dish on top.
  7. Bring your own pen. Next time you go to the doctor’s office, use your own pen to fill out paperwork. The pen that’s handed to you by staff has been handled by dozens of people and has been exposed to countless viruses.
  8. Dough cutter. Can’t find your circular cutter? Use a mason jar lid ring instead.
  9. Makeshift muffin tin. Misplaced your muffin tin? Place mason jar rings on a cookie sheet and set a paper baking cup in each ring. Bake according to the recipe.
  10. Votive holder. Have a candle but no holder to catch drips? Glue a mason jar lid to a mason jar ring and set the candle inside the ring. No mess.

How many tips are new to you?
