FORMATTING SERVICES:I perform the formatting services in Microsoft Word.
Step 1: Consult with client.
- Turnaround time frame?
- Trim size?
- Table of Contents?
- Author name and book name in header or footer?
- Chapters begin on odd pages or flow?
- Drop case for the first letter of each chapter?
- Section break character?
- Obtain ISBN(s) from the client.
- Obtain Library of Congress number from the client.
Step 2: Provide samples.
- Provide up to three samples of two chapters, focusing on chapter titles, font size, spacing, section breaks, and headers/footers.
- Discuss decisions with the client.
Step 3: Format.
- Check for extra spaces.
- Check indents.
- Check chapter numbers.
- Check headers/footers.
- Check matching quotes.
- Check page numbering.
- Check Copyright, Dedication, Acknowledgement, and About Author pages.
- Provide a PDF proof for client changes/approval.
Step 4: Products produced:
