Top 8 Organizing Tips

There are many reasons to get organized. Maybe you’re sick of never being able to find items. Or maybe the physical clutter is causing you to feel anxious. Try these simple tips to help organize your home.

1.      Start with the “one in/one out” rule. If something new comes into your house, it’s time to get rid of something old or something that you don’t use anymore. This helps keep you from having too much stuff. This applies to decorations, clothing, or toys.
2.      Don’t keep anything out of obligation. If you receive a gift you don’t like, don’t keep it. Donate it.
3.      Use labels whenever possible. Use labeled bins, baskets, and containers to manage closets and pantries that tend to get cluttered and disorganized.
4.      Use organizers to keep drawers from getting messy. Drawer organizers aren’t just for your forks, knives, and spoons, but helpful in the bathroom for makeup, or for art supplies.
5.      Take advantage of Lazy Susans in every room—not just the kitchen. A Lazy Susan is convenient for storing and organizing items. Use them under sinks, on your bathroom counter, or in your closet.
6.      Ask yourself: Do you need it? Do you use it? Do you love it?
7.      Set a timer to help achieve a lot in a small window of time. It’s amazing what you can get done in 10 or 15 minutes.
8.      Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight. There’s nothing worse than waking in the morning to find a sink full of dirty dishes.
