Coffee filters are becoming a thing of the past with the single-use coffee makers. If you have coffee filters hiding in your cupboard, here are some other uses for them.
- Blot away oil. Cut a few coffee filters into 2-inch wide strips. Next time your face is looking shiny, blot your face with a coffee filter strip.
- Clean glass. Wipe windows and mirrors with coffee filters. No lint left behind.
- Cookie decorating. Pour sprinkles, colored sugar, or other toppings into coffee filters, then fold in half and shake out one side to evenly coat cookies.
- Protect pans and plates. Place a flattened coffee filter between stacked pots or plates to cut down on scratches.
- No more paint drips. Poke a paintbrush handle through a few coffee filters before using to cut down on paint drips.
- Stay-fresh storage. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to an unused filter, gather, and secure with a rubber band. Toss the pouch in a drawer of clothes to absorb moisture.
- Salvage wine. If a cork breaks into the wine bottle, strain the wine through a coffee filter to catch the stray cork bits.
- Control munchie portions. Next time you get a craving for a treat, use a coffee filter to hold a single serving.
- End microwave spatters. Place a coffee filter upside down over your dish to catch any splatters.
