7 Miscellaneous Hacks

Give these hacks and tricks a try. They might be helpful in numerous situations you are experiencing.

  1. Painting Trick. Do you find painting the bottom and undersides of legs of a chair or table difficult? Next time, lightly tap a nail into the bottom of each leg. This will lift the leg off the floor so you can easily paint with the legs without worrying about a sticky mess.
  2. Strengthen Nails. Do your nails crack or peel? Pour a quarter cup of vegetable oil into a small dish and microwave until warm. Soak your fingertips for 15 minutes. Repeat daily as needed. The oil will moisturize your nails and cuticles, putting an end to dehydration that causes brittleness.
  3. End hanger creases. Don’t buy expensive padded hangers to keep your pants from getting unsightly creases. Instead, wrap bubble wrap around the hanger’s bar and secure with tape. No more crease!
  4. Keep candles burning longer. To double a candle’s burn time, place new, unused candles in the freezer for a few hours before lighting. The wax will solidify so it melts slower.
  5. No more crooked frames. Do you have a picture that won’t stay hanging straight? Snip erasers off four pencils, then attach an eraser to each corner of the frame with glue. The erasers provide an extra grip to keep your picture hanging straight.
  6. Nix trash odors. To keep your kitchen garbage can smelling fresh, place a couple of dryer sheets on the bottom of the can. Replace the dryer sheets every week.
  7. Beauty product drawer. Do lotions, perfumes, and other beauty products end up in a jumble in your drawer? Grab some lace and upholstery tacks to form “pockets” to keep your supplies upright and secure.
