Frankenstein Day

Frankenstein Day is always celebrated on August 30th, the birthday of Mary Shelley (born in 1797).

In 1816, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley wrote the novel Frankenstein and published it in 1818. It’s considered the first science-fiction novel. It’s been over 200 years since a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein breathed life into his very own creature—the monster!

Frankenstein has inspired more than 130 movies, documentaries, and TV shows. The first movie based on the book came out in 1910. The 15-minute silent film showed how Frankenstein created his monster. The movie is one of the first horror movies ever made.

How will you celebrate Frankenstein Day?
