Chocolate and Halloween go hand-in-hand in my book. How about you? Make this tasty treat and have fun decorating.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups Old Fashioned Oats
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Butter
- 3/4 cup White Karo Syrup
- 8 ounces Chocolate Chips
- 3/4 cup Peanut Butter
- White Frosting
- Yellow and Red Food Coloring
Directions:
- Mix oats, brown sugar, and butter like a piecrust.
- Add karo syrup and mix well.
- Spread onto 10-inch x 15-inch pan. Bake 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Bake until golden brown and bubbly. Do not overbake.
- Let cool.
- Melt the chocolate chips, then add the peanut butter and mix well. Spread over oat mixture. Refrigerate.
- Run a knife through the chocolate (don’t cut through the oatmeal layer) to draw 15 squares.
- Add red and yellow food coloring to the white frosting, making the desired orange color. Spoon the frosting in a storage bag, then cut the tip of one corner.
- With the frosting, draw a pumpkin or write EEK, BOO, or R.I.P. in each square with the frosting.
When ready to serve, fully cut each square. Enjoy and have a Happy Halloween!
