Mason Jar Lid Ornaments

Do you have a broach that you don’t wear, but it’s sentimental? Or do you have a souvenir lapel pin that’s taking up space in your jewelry box?

Why not use them to create a unique ornament?

Supplies:

  • Broach, Pin, or Charm
  • Regular (small mouth) Mason Jar Lid and Band
  • 4-inch x 4-inch Fabric Piece
  • Colored Cardstock (plain or patterned)
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
  • Poly-fil Stuffing
  • 24-inch piece of Ribbon

Directions:

  1. Trace a mason jar lid onto a piece of cardstock and cut out.
  2. Lay the fabric wrong-side up onto a flat surface.
  3. Place a small amount of stuffing onto the center of the fabric. Place the jar lid on top of the stuffing and place it into the mason jar band. Adjust the fabric as necessary to eliminate wrinkles. Glue fabric to lid.
  4. Affix the cardstock round onto the back of the jar lid (over the glued fabric). Add additional glue around the seam of the cardstock and band to hold the fabric in place.
  5. Tie ribbon around the jar band, then make a loop and tie a bow (to use as a hanger on the tree).
  6. Attach charm to front of the ornament either with glue or by pinning it through the fabric.

This craft project makes one-of-a-kind ornaments. It’s also a great way to gift a gorgeous broach to someone.
