National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day

National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day is celebrated annually on April 2nd. This food combination is a favorite to many. I’ll admit I’m not one of them. When I was young, I never ate any type of jam or jelly. As I’ve aged, I’ve added them in my flavor profile.

Did you know peanut butter was considered a delicacy in the early 1900s and was only served in New York City’s finest tea rooms? When the price of peanut butter became affordable, the sandwich became popular with children.

If you have arichibutyrophobia (fear of peanut butter sticking on the roof of your mouth), the mix of jelly and peanut butter is a great option for you.

Instead of making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, try something different. Here are a few food options to help you out:

  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Donuts
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Fudge
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Pancakes
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Pie
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Soup
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Sushi

What flavor of jelly is your favorite?
