Crossword Puzzle Day

Crossword Puzzle Day is always celebrated on December 21. On this date in 1913, Arthur Wynne created a crossword puzzle that was published in the New York World newspaper. These puzzles are so popular that competitions are held to see who is the fastest to complete them correctly.

Did you know that doing crossword puzzles daily is good for memory and mind health?

Sharpen your pencils and your minds and work on a crossword puzzle. These puzzles allow you to expand your vocabulary and problem solving skills.

If you ever get the clue “a person skillful in creating or solving crossword puzzles,” the answer is cruciverbalist.

On this Crossword Puzzle Day, get out there and expand your vocabulary. If you want to watch a movie based on crossword puzzles (a crossword puzzle editor finds herself dragged into a police investigation after several of her clues are linked to unsolved crimes), check out the “Crossword Mysteries” on the Hallmark channel staring Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott.
